Omaha Royals in talks with Sarpy County about possible move there

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – The Omaha Royals are in talks with Sarpy County about a possible move there in 2011.

Royals General Manager Martie Cordaro says the organization has been in discussions with Sarpy County for about two months. That county has put together an ad hoc Stadium Committee. They're also moving forward with a feasibility study to examine possible locations for a minor league stadium.

Cordaro says it was Sarpy County that approached the Royals organization about a possible move there. He characterizes discussions with the county as enthusiastic. The Royals want a 6,500 to 8,500 seat facility that can also be used year-round for business and social activities.

The Royals hope to make a decision in September about where they'll play in 2011. Cordaro says the Royals have had no discussions with the city of Omaha since February.
