Omaha suburb of Bellevue is Nebraska's fastest-growing city

BELLEVUE, Neb. (AP) — Census figures show that the Omaha suburb of Bellevue is Nebraska's fastest-growing city.

New U.S. Census data shows that Bellevue added 738 residents to have 55,510 residents by July 1 2015. That made Bellevue the 249th fastest growing city nationwide out of cities with at least 50,000 people.

Lincoln was just behind Bellevue and ranked 264 on the national list. The state's capital gained 3,443 people to have 277,348 residents.

Both Bellevue and Lincoln had a roughly 1.3 percent growth rate.

Grand Island gained 188 residents to have a population of 51,440 and rank 501st.

The state's largest city of Omaha grew 1,569 to have 443,885 residents and rank 510th nationally.

Omaha and Grand Island both grew about 0.4 percent between 2014 and 2015.
