The Omaha Summer Arts Fest Celebrates 40 Years

This year marks the 40th anniversary for the Omaha Summer Arts Festival.

Elizabeth Balazs, Festival Manager, says there will be several special activities offered this year.

Balazs says there’s a new program in the Children’s Fair called ACT, or Art Collectors in Training.

She says the exhibit offers kids up to age 10 the chance to purchase artwork from participating artists for a low price.

Balazs says there will also be street performers at the festival.

"We have two national street performers from California.  One is a comedy juggler and the other is a contortionist and they will be doing pop up entertainment in the streets.  They will entertain large groups of folks, just sort of impromptu.”

Balazs says another new activity this year is a t-shirt creation station where kids can color the shirts using fabric markers.

The Omaha Summer Arts Festival takes place tomorrow through Sunday along the Gene Leahy Mall.
