Omaha Summer Arts Festival takes place June 5-7

This year’s Omaha Summer Arts Festival features artwork from 135 professional artists from all over the country.

Elizabeth Balazs, Festival Manager, says new this year, the festival will include a food truck court with four trucks gathered together on 14th street.  In addition, Balazs says there will be a scavenger hunt during the festival that is open to all.

She says the Art Collectors in Training program or ACT is back for its second year.  Balazs says ACT is geared toward kids 10 years and under.

"Our professional artists from the artists’ market donate small pieces of work in all the different media.  And the kids can go into this tent and select a piece of art for $5 or less.  So it’s really an opportunity for kids to pick out an original piece of artwork that they can take home and display in their bedroom or give as a gift to a family member.”

Balasz says the ACT program is part of the Children’s Fair which will take place at 11th and Farnam Streets.  She says other activities include make and take art projects with an art garden theme, face painting and cookie decorating.

The Omaha Summer Arts Festival takes place June 5th through 7th on Farnam Street, alongside the Gene Leahy Mall
