The Omaha Vipers are the newest team in the Major Indoor Soccer League.

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – The Major Indoor Soccer League recently announced the addition of the Omaha Vipers to its stable of teams.

Julie Hansen is the Vipers' Marketing Director. She says the Vipers' season will begin in mid-November and end in late March. Hansen says the team will play at the Omaha Civic Auditorium and will be made up of both recruited players as well as some walk-ons. She says the team is in the process of getting the coach and then holding tryouts. Hansen says, "The mayor was very excited to bring the team to town. MECA was very cooperative in helping us secure time at the Omaha Civic Auditorium to play the games. They'll be doing their practices at the indoor soccer club at 120th and Maple, so there's a lot of support locally."

Hansen says owner Frank Onate jumped at the opportunity to bring professional soccer to Omaha. She says he's always been a big fan of the sport and felt there was sufficient interest in Omaha to support a local team. Hansen says though the Vipers are currently taking deposits on season tickets, full details on the inaugural season are not available just yet.

More information should be posted in the next couple of weeks to the team's web site, omahavipers.com.
