Omaha's Civic Auditorium on the market

Omaha’s Civic Auditorium is for sale.

A news release from Mayor Jean Stothert’s office says the city is taking Requests for Proposal for the Civic Auditorium site. The Civic opened in 1954 and is managed by Omaha’s Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority.

Officials want the site to be a mixed-use development that includes retail, residential, civic, and office uses. The site was appraised at just over $10 million. Mayor Stothert’s office estimates repairing and upgrading the Civic Auditorium would cost $29 million.

The city will take Requests for Proposal until June 4th, with a decision expected August 22nd.
