Omaha's snow drop-off site filling up

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – Public Works crews are once again plowing and clearing streets after five inches of snow fell in Omaha Wednesday.

Street Maintenance Engineer Scott McIntyre says blowing and drifting snow is hampering crews' efforts to clear streets. Snow is pushed to the middle lane of major highways and then picked up at night. It's taken to the city-owned property at 11th and Locust streets.

McIntyre says that site is filling up quickly. If it becomes too full, the city will be forced to either lease property or dump snow in city parks. McIntyre says neither option is desirable.

A Wind Chill Warning is in effect from 6PM Thursday to noon Friday. Wind chill values Thursday night could drop to -40 or lower.
