OPS board to name new superintendent in December

The Omaha Public Schools board wants to have a new superintendent hired by the end of 2012.

Last Monday, the board voted to move forward with a timeline that would name a new superintendent December 17th. Wilmette, Illinois, based Proact Search is working with the OPS board to select candidates.

Board members Justin Wayne and Marian Fey abstained from voting on the timeline.

Proact officials presented two timelines for the superintendent search. One would put the decision in the hands of the current OPS board. The other would have a superintendent chosen after the November election, when the board will have four new members.
