OPS board to vote September 4 on 2013-14 budget

Public hearings are set for September 4 on the Omaha Public Schools’ new fiscal year budget.

OPS’ new fiscal year begins September first. The four hearings will be held prior to the regularly scheduled board meeting on the proposed $505 million general fund budget.

Budget documents from OPS show the 2013-14 budget proposal is 4.4 percent larger than this fiscal year’s. However, it also accounts for the opening of two new schools: Alfonza W. Davis Middle School and Gateway Elementary School.

The public hearings begin at 6pm. More information on the budget is available at www.ops.org.
