OPS hires consulting firm for second superintendent search

The Omaha Public Schools board will use a consulting firm from the Chicago area to assist with its second search for a new superintendent.

OPS board members voted Monday night to hire Proact Search of Wilmette, Illinois.  The school district is once again searching for a new superintendent following the resignation in early June of Nancy Sebring. She was to begin her new job as OPS superintendent July first, but resigned following reports that she used her Des Moines Public Schools email account to send sexually explicit messages.

The OPS board is also in the process of choosing an interim superintendent. The Nebraska Council of School Administrators and American Association of School Administrators are assisting with that search.

He or she will replace John Mackiel, who's retiring August 31.
