OPS to hold four community forums

OPS is holding a series of strategic planning forums beginning Sunday.

The school district is working with Maryland-based consulting firm Cross and Joftus on the strategic plan. Last week, local leaders were surveyed about OPS’ strengths, weaknesses, and challenges.

Superintendent Mark Evans says he hopes to hear from the public how OPS can improve in areas of safety, technology, and student achievement.

“That’s our core purpose, student success, whether it’s in NeSA scores, and/or graduation rates, and/or acuity test scores, ACT test scores, I mean, there are multiple indicators of student success, and that’s going to be a big target that’s going to come out of it.”

The forums are Sunday at the TAC building, Tuesday at North High School, Wednesday at South High School, and Thursday at Burke High School. More information is available at www.ops.org.

Evans says the strategic plan should be complete in early 2014.
