OPS interim superintendent, school board work on transitional goals
The interim superintendent of the Omaha Public Schools says the district needs to examine the organization of its central office and communication with taxpayers.
Virginia Moon discussed her transitional goals for OPS at a special meeting Monday. Her four broad goals for the district look at strategic planning and reorganization.
Moon says OPS also needs to examine how transportation is used. “Is it getting the right kids to right schools, are people making that decision for transportation only, is it because that school has something for them, is it because child care is close for them, so I think transportation is one we’d want to add to this list.”
Moon says OPS also needs to look at how communication is handled with the community and not just district stakeholders.
OPS hopes to name a new superintendent by the end of 2012.
