OPS sets public forums, sets up online survey for superintendent search

By Katie Schubert

Omaha, NE – The Omaha Public Schools community has several upcoming opportunities to weigh in on the school district's search for a new superintendent.

A community survey goes online Thursday. It'll be available through December 13th, and open to all OPS parents, students, staff, and the community. OPS board president Sandra Jensen says the survey will ask stakeholders what characteristics they'd like to see in a new superintendent, as well as what that person's goal and objectives should be. The survey will be available at www.ops.org.

OPS is also hosting three public forums on the superintendent search. Those are December 8 and 9 at 7pm, and December 10 at 10am. All three forums will be held at the TAC building. Jensen says the public is encouraged to both take the survey and attend the forums.

OPS hopes to name a new superintendent next April. He or she will replace Dr. John Mackiel, who's retiring after this school year.
