OPS Subdistrict 2 Candidates

Voters from the Omaha Public Schools’ 2nd Subdistrict will be choosing between Marque Snow and Niokia Stewart during next week’s general election.

According to his website, Snow says his priority is to “strengthen the preparation of our children so they have the skills needed to succeed after they graduate.”

Snow is the After-School Teen and Youth Program Director at the South Omaha YMCA in Omaha and a member of their Board of Directors.

Snow believes in giving kids a quality education.  He says he will fight to make sure OPS offers curriculum that provides students with work training, life skills and college readiness classes.

Niokia Stewart is a transitional youth professional partner.  She helps young adults with mental health concerns find resources.

A mom of three, Stewart says she would bring the perspectives of both a parent and a professional to the OPS board.

She says she is adept at communicating with people from all different backgrounds.  Stewart says in her position she helps work with all kinds of people to find solutions to problems.

The General Election takes place May 14th.  For more information, the website is votedouglascounty.com.
