Orpheum Theater, Holland Performing Arts Center among top venues in Midwest

Omaha Performing Arts

A list of the top theatre venues in the Midwest includes two in Omaha.

Trade publication Venues Today named the Orpheum Theater and Holland Performing Arts Center to its list of Top Midwest Spots. The Orpheum is second among venues with between 2,001 and 5,000 seats. The Holland Performing Arts Center is second among venues with fewer than 2,000 seats.

Kendra Ingram, vice president of programming and education for Omaha Performing Arts, says rankings such as the one in Venues Today help Omaha attract major national acts.

“Every time we make one of these lists it just really helps elevate the status of the venues from a sales perspective, from the quality of the programming we’re bringing to the venues, and honestly, it speaks well for the city that there’s an interest in attending events.”

The rankings are based on concert and event grosses from February of 2014 to January of this year. During that time period, more than 219,000 people attended 134 events at the Orpheum Theater. 85,000 attended 82 events at the Holland Performing Arts Center, according to Omaha Performing Arts.
