Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity hosts a 5k run and family walk against violence this weekend

Omaha, NE – The men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and anti-violence group Enough is Enough are hosting a 5K Run and Family Walk against violence on Saturday.

Spokesman Ron Laing says the purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the violence present in North Omaha. He says run organizers hope individuals will work along with the fraternity to take a stand against violence in that area. Laing says 100% of the proceeds will go toward the efforts of Enough is Enough, "They offer rallies in neighborhoods. They have educational seminars. They have their night patrol where members of the organization go patrol the various neighborhoods."

Laing says if the group sees any kind of violence, they immediately inform the police. The run against violence begins at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. To register, the website is active.com.
