Pizza Hut Rewards Reading Champs with Page Turner Grants

The Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Program is focused on motivating students in grades K-6 to read.

Natasha Collins, Program Administrator for the Pizza Hut BOOK IT! Program, says the program has been around since 1984 and has impacted approximately 65 million students across America.

Collins says through the program, Pizza Hut provides materials for teachers in their classrooms.  Teachers then set monthly reading goals and kids are rewarded when they reach them.

New this year, groups, individuals and organizations who are having an impact on literacy and reading, can apply for a Page Turner Grant.

"What it’s intended to do is really celebrate and help support those everyday literacy heroes who are helping to inspire readers or empower teachers or provide access to books and resources in local communities.  Because of our 32 years, we are awarding 32 grants.  All of them will total up to $50,000, at varying levels.”

Collins says the deadline for applying for the grant is November 30th.  Winners will be selected in December and announced in early 2017.
