Police ID young girl found alone in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say they've identified a young girl found alone in an Omaha neighborhood.

Police received a report around 1 a.m. Wednesday of a girl alone in a neighborhood in south Omaha. Officers conducted a canvass of the area but were unable to determine the child's identity or where she lives. They estimated the girl is about 3 years old.

The girl, who is in good health, was placed into temporary foster care. She was later identified and her siblings were also put into temporary foster care.

The state's child protection services department has been notified of the case. Information about the children's parents has not been released.
