Police make another arrest in Operation Purple Haze

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Omaha police say a 34-year-old man sought as part of a crackdown on gang-related crime has turned himself in.

Police say Carlos Taylor was booked Thursday morning into Omaha's jail on suspicion of possessing crack cocaine with intent to deliver. It was not clear whether he had an attorney.

Taylor's arrest followed those of eight other men in the last week as part of a nine-month investigation by local and federal authorities called Operation Purple Haze.

Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer says all the men are considered leaders in two of the city's most notorious gangs.

Police say only one other man, Eric English, is being sought in the investigation. English is charged in a warrant with possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver.
