Preliminary 2018 COP supports OPPD's commitment to no general rate increase

In November, the Omaha Public Power District Board of Directors heard the Preliminary 2018 Corporate Operating Plan at its monthly meeting.

Jodi Baker, Media Specialist for OPPD, says the proposed COP has no general rate increase for the second consecutive year.

She says OPPD has committed to no general rate increases until 2021.

Baker says OPPD believes it’s important to be good stewards of their customers’ money.

"We have been watching costs very very closely for some time now but there are certain factors that are uncontrollable in the market.  But we do try and maintain a diverse mix of fuel and that helps us more reliable rates, keep things more in line with where we would like them to be with our customers so we are not gambling too much in one area.  We really are conservative in that way.”

The OPPD Board meets Thursday, December 14th at 4:00 p.m. and will vote on the proposed Corporate Operating Plan at that time.

The meetings are live streamed at OPPD.com.
