President Obama speaks to the nation's students

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – President Obama is scheduled to speak today to the nation's elementary and high school students.

The 11 AM (CT) speech will focus on personal responsibility, the role of community and government in education, and the importance of education to the economy, according to remarks released by the White House. In the Omaha Public Schools, the President's speech will be broadcast in each building's library. The Millard school district is giving teachers the option to show the speech in their classrooms if it fits in with their lesson plan. Other area districts don't plan to show the speech today to students.

We'll have more on this story later today on Omaha Public Radio.
