Primary Election runs smoothly

The May 14th general election will see Mayor Jim Suttle running against Jean Stothert.

Dave Phipps, Douglas County Election Commissioner, says Tuesday’s primary election went well, with no issues.

He says the voter turnout ended up being 22% which was above what he predicted.

Phipps says there were a few questions but not many.

"People that didn’t know where to go vote and people that have an Omaha address but don’t live in the city.  Those happen during every single city election so nothing out of the ordinary.  Other than that, it just went really smoothly.”

In addition to the Mayoral race, 18 candidates will be running for the 9 Omaha Public Schools Subdistrict seats in May.
