Omaha, NE – Want to locate free public art in Omaha from your Droid or iPhone? There's an app for that.

Public Art Omaha recently launched its free mobile application. Donovan Beery designed the application. He says he worked with a team of students from UNO to develop and program the app. Beery says the application is an extension of Public Art Omaha's website.

The website contains information, locations and photos of more than 300 pieces of free artwork, viewable from public spaces in the Omaha area. Beery says "If you go to the Gene Leahy Mall, there's just a ton of work. Last year one of the things the Public Art Commission worked on with a bunch of architects in town were these benches. And the benches were designed by these architecture firms. The information on all of those is there. If you're heading out on the Interstate toward Council Bluffs, you'll see the big grain tower that's been replaced with giant murals. Those are all on there."

The Public Art Omaha mobile app may be downloaded from the Android Market and Apple's App Store. Details are available at publicartomaha.org.
