Public Comment is Invited as Nebraska State Patrol Applies for Re-Accreditation

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – The Nebraska State Patrol is voluntarily undergoing an assessment for re-accreditation.

Lt. Dave Dishong, Accreditation Manager for the Nebraska State Patrol, says a team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies will review paperwork at the state headquarters and participate in ride alongs with state troopers. Lt. Dishong says the assessors will also speak with the state patrol's law enforcement partners to ensure that the state patrol is living up to the letter and spirit of the standards the commission has set. He says the re-accreditation process is a way for the "State Patrol's command administration to know that we are operating at a level that is recognized worldwide as being first-rate."

As part of the on-site assessment, Lt. Dishong says members of the community are invited to offer their comments about the Nebraska State Patrol. The assessment team will be answering all calls personally between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 30th.

The number is 1-402-840-5147.
