Public input sought through a new survey focused on mental illness and substance abuse

The Behavioral Health Division of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services wants the public’s input.

If you, or someone you know, have experience with services for serious mental illness or a substance abuse disorder, you’re asked to complete an on-line survey.

Heather Wood is the Administrator of Quality and Data Excellence for the Nebraska DHHS’s Division of Behavioral Health.

She says current and former users of the division’s services, their families and friends, as well as professionals and the general population all have valuable information to share.

“To be able to offer a wide variety of perspective and experience, to be able to provide valuable input as to what needs we need to be focused on for strategic planning and to make smart choices about how we are using our dollars most effectively to provide those systems and those services for individuals across Nebraska.”

Wood says the anonymous, confidential survey responses will be combined with data collected state-wide in conjunction with UNMC’s College of Public Health.

The survey is available through midnight, Wednesday, June 15th, at dhhs.ne.gov/Behavioral_Health
