The reconstruction of I-29 at U-S Highway 275 and Iowa Highway 92 in Council Bluffs is the subject of a public meeting next Tuesday.
The construction is part of the Council Bluffs Interstate System Improvement Program. The $2 billion project is being done in five phases.
Iowa DOT District 4 engineer Troy Jerman says this portion of the project is significant.
"The 275 interchange is the part that we need to get completed so that we can get the rail relocation, rail consolidation done. Once this area is done and the rail relocation is done, that opens up the rest of the I-29/I-80 corridor for construction. So this is kind of the first piece to that."
The project also involves reconstruction of Highway 92.
The public meeting will be held at the Iowa School for the Deaf Lied Multipurpose Complex in Council Bluffs. More information is available at www.councilbluffsinterstate.iowadot.gov.
