Omaha, NE – The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency says Burlington Northern is shutting down its rail line through Sarpy County because of flooding.
NEMA's daily update says the railroad is closing the rail line that runs along the Missouri River through Bellevue and Sarpy County. Bellevue's Emergency Management Agency received 5,000 sandbags Thursday. Haworth Park and its marina remain closed due to flooding.
In Cass County, voluntary evacuations are underway at Lake WaConDa. A public meeting is scheduled there Sunday morning. Also, sandbagging continues at the Plattsmouth water and sewer treatment plants. NEMA says the goal is to sandbag to three feet above where the Missouri River crested in 1993.
NEMA has two hotlines set up for residents who have questions about flooding. Those numbers are 855-211-2453 or 2454. Both lines are open daily from 8 am to 10 pm.
