Omaha, NE – The Recall Fahey Committee's petition drive begins today. Recall Fahey Co-Chairmen Greg Lyons and Ryan Chappelear picked up the petitions Monday morning at the Douglas County Election Commissioner's Office.

Supporters can begin signing petitions Monday afternoon at Rosenblatt Stadium, the Eagles Lodge in Elkhorn, and at Memorial Park. Volunteers can also pick up their petitions at those sites. Chappelear says the 300 or so volunteers who will be distributing petitions each have set routes to canvass. He expects good turnout in south Omaha and in Elkhorn.

The Committee has 30 days to collect 21,734 signatures. They've set a goal of 26,000. Chappelear says if they collect that number quickly, they'll continue the petition drive.

In response to the petition drive, Mayor Mike Fahey issued a statement saying "Omaha is on the right track and I am proud of my record. Over the past seven years, city government and citizens have worked together to build a stronger Omaha and I am confident that the opinions of a few will not derail all of the success we continue to enjoy."
