Reception for the UNO Women's Archive Project set for tonight

The UNO Women’s Archive Project will have a reception this evening starting at 7:00 at KANEKO.

Tammie Kennedy is an Associate Professor in the English Department at UNO and Director and Editor of the Women’s Archive Project.

Kennedy says the project is student produced and archived at UNO.  She says KANEKO chose the exhibit to be a part of its larger Storytelling installation.

Kennedy says tonight’s reception will feature student speakers who will discuss their experiences in writing profiles of the women they chose.

"We have a wide range of famous and not really famous women that students identify with in some way.  We call it “passionate attachment” and what that signifies for us is when we are doing research, we aren’t trying to be objective and just present the facts of this women.  There’s a reason the students have chosen this woman.  There’s something about her story that they connect with or that they want to learn more about or that resonates with them in some way.”

KANEKO is located at 1111 Jones Street.  More information is available at wap.lib.unomaha.edu.
