Omaha, NE – Film Streams and Native American Public Telecommunications, Inc. will present a complimentary screening of the documentary REEL INJUN tonight at 7:00.

Georgiana Lee, Assistant Director of NAPT, says the movie was produced by Cree filmmaker Neil Diamond. Diamond is an actor from Canada who worked with the National Film Board of Canada to develop this program. She says the film covers Diamond's journey to discover how Native Americans have been portrayed in cinema through the years.

Lee says it is especially important for Native American youth to view the film, "They didn't grow up with seeing Native Americans on the big screen, the way we were in spaghetti westerns or in black and white films. And I think this film really does go all the way back to that period of time and really puts it out there honestly how we were portrayed and how hard Native Americans have worked in the film industry to get us to where we are today."

REEL INJUN screens tonight at 7:00. There will be a post-show discussion. Details are available online at filmstreams.org.
