Relatives worry about missing Omaha girl, 16

(Information in the following story is from: The North Platte Telegraph, http://www.nptelegraph.com )

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) — Relatives of a missing Omaha teenager are increasingly anxious about her safety after she didn't contact them during the holidays.

Madison "Maddy" Pacheco was last seen Dec. 7 at a Panera Bread in Omaha.

Her mother, Kim Streit, tells The North Platte Telegraph that relatives hoped the 16-year-old would surface because "she knows how important Christmas is to us."

Streit says her daughter told a friend that she was going to Iowa the day after she went missing. A tip that she was in Des Moines turned out to be false.

Relatives have also looked into leads in North Platte, where the girl used to live.

Before she disappeared, Madison had asked her mother for permission to change her phone number because of harassing calls.
