Relocation incentives could bring more people to rural Nebraska

The Nebraska Legislature's Urban Affairs Committee is considering a bill that would allow communities to use local option sales tax revenue to create incentives for people to relocate to those areas.

Sen. Kate Sullivan of Cedar Rapids presented the bill Tuesday as a chance for communities to develop their own incentive programs based on their individual needs.

Sens. Colby Coash of Lincoln and John Murante of Gretna question whether the bill needs more specific guidelines that define these “relocation incentives.”
