Report shows regional economy is slowing down

A Creighton University economist expects slow economic growth in the months ahead.

Ernie Goss oversees the Mid-America Business Conditions report. The Business conditions index, an indicator of overall economic health, was at 49.7 in August.  A number below 50 indicates an economic slowdown.

Goss says the drought is impacting businesses that are linked to agriculture, and it'll continue to cause an economic slowdown.

The August report indicates deliveries are slowing down due to drought, and confidence among supply managers is down.

The Business Conditions Report includes Nebraska and Iowa.
