Republican Congressman Jeff Fortenberry Faces Competition in Primary

On May 13th, incumbent District 1 Republican Congressman Jeff Fortenberry will face Republican challenger Dennis Parker in the primary election.

Fortenberry says he remains focused on economic security, national security and family security.

He says what sets him apart is his experience in public policy and his background in economics.

Fortenberry says he helped run a business that gave jobs to 350 Nebraska families.

"And I think those are important values to bring to government as we look at the proper role of the federal government in ensuring we have basic safety, national security, economic vitality, as well as the traditional idea that the strength of the nation does depend on institutions that create Main Street; that create civil, civic society.  And those get reflected in family ideals.”

Democrats Dennis Crawford and Jessica Turek, a writer will run against each other in the primary for District 1.

The deadline to register to vote is today.  Details are available online at votedouglascounty.com.
