Retirement transition series returns to Omaha Public Library

Starting next week, the Omaha Public Library will kick off its retirement transition series. This is the fourth year the library has offered the series.

Emily Getzschman, Marketing Manager for the Omaha Public Library, says the library wants to help connect people with information that can improve their lives.

She says some people don’t know the first steps they should take in planning for their future.

Getzschman says workshops focus on retirement income planning, Medicare, social security strategies, estate planning and long-term care costs.

"This is an opportunity for them to explore some of their options in a workshop that is free.  Oftentimes people feel they have to pay for these services and to some extent they will if they want to go further.  These are introductory courses so they can at least explore some of their options and learn what’s available to them.”

Getzschman says the workshops are for all ages, whether someone is just starting to plan for retirement, is on the cusp of retiring or is past that point.

The retirement transition series will be offered at six library branches.  The series starts next Tuesday, March 3rd at the Benson Branch.
