Ricketts announces name of Janssen's successor

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Governor-elect Pete Ricketts has announced that a Dodge County cattleman will be replacing Senator Charlie Janssen in the state Legislature.

Ricketts said Thursday night in Kearney, during the Nebraska Cattlemen's annual banquet that the post is going to David Schnoor of Scribner. Schnoor was one of five people who applied to replace Janssen. Janssen, a Fremont Republican, beat Senator Amanda McGill to become the next Nebraska auditor.

Ricketts says Governor Dave Heineman will be making the appointment.
