Ryan High School alumni plan 50-year class reunion

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Graduates from the long-closed Archbishop Ryan High School's Class of 1965 are planning a 50-year class reunion this month.

But reunion plans recently took on new meaning with the Omaha school district's decision to buy the property. District officials plan to build a new high school, making it unlikely that any part of Ryan High would be renovated.

Reunion organizers say a building tour they scheduled for Aug. 22 will be open to any grad who wants to tag along. It may be the last opportunity they get to wander the halls they knew as students.

Ryan merged with Paul VI High School in 1983 and was renamed St. Joseph High School. The school closed in 1989 because of declining enrollment.
