Educating families about how to have a fun and safe summer is the goal of the annual SAFE Event.
The Omaha Police Department’s Southeast Precinct Advisory Council is offering its Safety, Awareness, Fitness and Education event on Sunday at the Salvation Army KROC Center.
Ofelia Robles, OPD Crime Prevention Specialist, says attendees can have their blood checked, learn how to keep their neighborhoods safe, and enjoy a variety of demonstrations
"We’re going to have a helicopter there, the Mounted Patrol, the Motorcycle Patrol. We are also going to have Operation Life Saver there so people can learn how to cross the train tracks safely.”
Robles says there will be lots of fun stuff for kids as well, including face painting, games, and a climbing wall.
The SAFE event takes place Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. The Salvation Army Kroc Center is located at 2825 Y Street.
