Salvation Army prepares for prolonged response to flooded areas

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – The Salvation Army of Omaha is preparing to assist residents displaced from their homes because of Missouri River flooding.

Spokeswoman Susan Eustice says they're on standby to provide assistance in this area. The Siouxland Chapter is already providing meals, cleanup kits and other support to families in South Dakota. Eustice says that'll likely continue in to the fall.

Eustice says donations are needed for cleanup kits. Salvation Army volunteers hand out those kits to people in flooded areas to assist with cleanup after a disaster. More information is available at www.givesalvationarmy.org.

The Missouri River is more than four feet above flood stage in Omaha.
