Salvation Army seeking bellringers

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – The Salvation Army of Omaha needs more than 4,000 volunteers for its annual Tree of Lights Campaign.

That's how many people volunteered during last year's Campaign, which raised $2.7 million for the Salvation Army's programs and services. Salvation Army spokeswoman Susan Eustice says this year's goal will be announced during the Omaha chapter's tree lighting ceremony November 14th.

Eustice says the economic downturn means more people are seeking assistance from agencies such as the Salvation Army. She says it also means donors aren't contributing as much, which puts agencies in a bind.

People interested in ringing bells during the Tree of Lights campaign can call 898-6000 or log on to www.ringomaha.org.
