The Salvation Army Tree of Lights Campaign kicks off this week

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – For the 5th year in a row, American National Bank at 90th and Dodge is the site for the Salvation Army's Tree of Lights.

Susan Eustice, PR Director for The Salvation Army in Omaha, says the Tree of Lights Campaign kicks off at 6:00 p.m. this Friday. The lighting ceremony will feature music from the Salvation Army Brass Ensemble as well as complimentary refreshments for those attending.

The campaign runs November 11th through December 24th with a goal of $3.1 million. Eustice says all of the money raised will be used in Omaha.

"The Salvation Army has seen a 39% increase in need for food pantry assistance alone. We know that Christmas assistance is really important and throughout this week we are signing up thousands of folks who need help during Christmas, through Adopt-a-Family, our Toyland Program or our Holiday Food Program as well."

Donations will be collected from the red kettles set up all over town. The Salvation Army still needs thousands of bell ringers.
