Sand in the City brings the beach to Omaha. Water is the theme for this year's sand castles.

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – The Nebraska Children's Home Society presents its seventh annual Sand in the City event this weekend.

Marketing Manager Kathleen Al-Marhoon says this year's Sand in the City will take place at 10th and Capitol Streets in downtown Omaha. New this year, families can get personalized lessons in building sand castles from professional sand sculptors. Other activities include the sand sculpting competition, an interactive Kid Zone and a petting zoo.

Al-Marhoon says Sand in the City appeals to all ages because everyone enjoys playing in the sand. She says the event is "our way of bringing the beach to downtown Omaha."

Sand in the City helps raise awareness for the programs available through Nebraska Children's Home Society. For more information, the web site is sandinthecityomaha.com.
