School-based health center coming to Bryan High School

OPS

Building Bright Futures plans to add a school-based health center at Bryan High School.

It’ll be the second facility located in an OPS high school, and the eighth school-based health center. Jeanee Weiss, Director of Healthy Futures for Building Bright Futures, says the seven existing sites served 4,300 children and families last school year. In addition to medical care, staff at the health centers can provide referrals and help families get enrolled in programs such as Medicaid.

Weiss says Building Bright Futures is always looking to expand care through the health centers, whether it’s new facilities, extended hours, or additional services.

The estimated cost of the Bryan High School health center is $290,000. It’s scheduled to open next August.
