Second Congressional District race: White, Sakalosky, Terry

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – The race for Nebraska's Second Congressional District seat has three candidates.

Incumbent Republican Lee Terry announced his re-election bid Sunday afternoon. Terry was first elected to the U.S. House in 1998. He narrowly defeated Jim Esch in the 2008 general election.

One of Terry's two opponents is State Senator Tom White of Omaha, a Democrat. White was elected to the Nebraska Legislature in 2006. He serves on the Business and Labor, Revenue, and Urban Affairs Committees.

Terry also is being challenged by Republican Matt Sakalosky. Sakalosky owns a health care consulting firm in Omaha.

Nebraska's primary election is May 11.
