Omaha, NE – Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson says he's concerned by comments made by General Stanley McChrystal.

McChrystal was relieved of his duties Wednesday as top commander of the war in Afghanistan. The decision came after McChrystal made comments critical of Obama administration officials.

Senator Nelson says it was the right decision to hold McChrystal accountable for those comments. "Our success in Afghanistan requires strong and accountable leadership. General McChrystal has recognized that he undermined his own leadership. As a military officer, he's accountable to his chain of command, and the decision of whether he retains his post rests with the commander-in-chief."

General David Petraeus will replace McChrystal as commander of the war in Afghanistan.

Nelson's comments came Wednesday during his weekly conference call with reporters.
