US Senator Mike Johanns says Congress has a lot of issues to resolve quickly when they come back in September.
Otherwise, Johanns says the government will face an end of the year fiscal problem.
If Congress doesn’t take affirmative action, Johanns says there won’t be funding for the government, including the Department of Defense.
He says everyone must work together to try and find a solution to the problem.
"My friends on the other side of the aisle are planning on ignoring the legal spending limits. The Department of Defense will be forced to endure more across the board cuts and likely more furloughs because if you violate the spending caps, then the sequester automatically kicks in after the 1st of the year.”
Senator Johanns’ comments came during his weekly conference call with Nebraska media.
