Senator Johanns to vote against Judge Sotomayor's confirmation

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – Nebraska's Junior Senator plans to vote against the confirmation of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Senator Mike Johanns issued a statement Monday saying he has concerns about Judge Sotomayor's impartiality and stance on the Second Amendment. Johanns says his decision is based on Sotomayor's record and judicial philosophy.

Senator Johanns expects a mixed bag when Senators vote on Sotomayor's confirmation. He says a few Republican Senators plan to vote in favor of her confirmation, but many others don't. A vote on Judge Sotomayor's confirmation could come the first week of August.
