Omaha, NE – State Senator Tom White could be running for Congress in 2010.
White set up a Congressional Exploratory Committee Monday. That's the first step toward a possible run for the Second Congressional District next year. White was elected to the Nebraska Legislature in 2006.
White says voters should know he'd be an independent and effective leader. He says his decision to form an Exploratory Committee was motivated by the challenges facing the Second Congressional District. He says there's also a lack of leadership that's led to Offutt Air Force Base losing two major commands.
White plans to spend several months talking with voters before making an official announcement.
