ServeNebraska's Week of Service begins Monday

Next week is ServeNebraska’s Week of Service.

The week is set aside to encourage Nebraskans to donate their time in their community. At www.serve.nebraska.gov, you can register a service project for next week, or get connected with opportunities in your area.

Kevin Warneke, a ServeNebraska Commissioner, says there are many ways people can volunteer in their communities.  "If people don’t have an idea, they can let us know at www.serve.nebraska.gov, and we can put people in touch with what we call ambassadors in each county."

Warneke says in 2011, Nebraskans gave 49.3 million hours of volunteer service to their communities.  A recent Volunteering in America Report ranked Nebraska sixth in the nation in volunteerism.
