ConAgra’s Shine the Light on Hungercampaign is designed to raise awareness and resources to fight hunger in Omaha.
Chris Kircher, Vice President of Corporate Affairs for ConAgra, says the campaign began seven years ago. He says the focus is on addressing the hunger needs in Omaha by raising money and collecting food for the Food Bank of the Heartland.
Kircher says the signature program of the campaign is the ConAgra ice rink, where all proceeds are matched by ConAgra dollar for dollar up to $100,000.
"It’s so important to be part of helping the community that supports us. Quite frankly, as a food company, ConAgra Foods knows it plays a key role and has the right resources to help the community with a problem like hunger. Child hunger, in particular, is an area where we’ve put a lot of our resources.”
